As the virtual conference starts, put up instructions to all members that they should grab three items from anywhere in their room that match three particular criteria. Here’s a list of good conditions you could use, but feel free to make up your own!

…comes from the longest away.
…isn’t yours, and tell us why you have it.
…is the most unique.
…you’ve owned for the longest.
…is the most unexpected or out of place.
…you think everyone ought to own, but doesn’t.”
Once all participants have arrived and had an opportunity to grab the items, start the conference with a round of introductions. As well as announcing their name, job title, and whatever other standard pieces of info you ask for, ask each person to introduce the objects they’ve found too, and why it meets the condition you set out above. You’ll get to listen to some incredible tales that will give a far better insight into each participant’s personality than the standard bland virtual event entertainment options!
